The WikiProfiles Code of Conduct outlines the expected behavior for all contributors, editors, and administrators. Our goal is to create a welcoming, collaborative, and respectful environment for everyone.
Core Principles
- Assume Good Faith: Always assume that other editors are trying to help the project, unless there is clear evidence to the contrary.
- Be Civil: Treat others with respect. Do not engage in personal attacks, harassment, or threats. Focus on the content, not the contributor.
- Collaborate: WikiProfiles is a collaborative effort. Be open to feedback, discuss controversial changes on talk pages, and strive for consensus.
Unacceptable Behavior
The following behaviors are strictly prohibited and may result in a warning, temporary block, or permanent ban:
- Harassment: Repeatedly targeting a specific user with unwanted communication, personal attacks, or following them across multiple articles to revert their edits (hound-dogging).
- Doxxing: Publishing someone's private, personally identifying information (such as their real name, address, or employer) without their explicit consent.
- Vandalism: Deliberately defacing articles, adding spam, or purposefully introducing false information.
- Sockpuppetry: Using multiple accounts to deceive, evade a block, or artificially influence consensus in a discussion.
Dispute Resolution
Disagreements are natural in a collaborative project. When disputes arise over article content, editors should engage in calm, reasoned discussion on the article's talk page. If consensus cannot be reached, editors may seek third-party mediation or request input from the broader community.
