Parmod Kumar

Parmod Kumar (born 3 May 1985) is an Indian public servant and former Army Postal Service Junior Commissioned Officer. His career spans military postal operations, high-altitude postings, Ministry of Defence headquarters administration, civil postal management, public-grievance handling and financial-inclusion initiatives.
Born in Kadaur, Kandaghat, Solan, Himachal Pradesh, he began his education in a rural setting and later studied at Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya. He completed a Bachelor of Arts from Government Post Graduate College, Solan, and a Master of Arts in English Literature from Jaipur National University, Jaipur.
Early Life and Education
Parmod Kumar was born on 3 May 1985 in Village Kadaur, Tehsil Kandaghat, District Solan, Himachal Pradesh, India. He began his schooling at Government Primary School, Kadaur, with the support of a government scholarship.
In 1996, he qualified for admission to Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya, becoming the first student from his locality to receive admission to such an institution. He studied at JNV Kunihar and JNV Nahan in the Arts stream. In 1999, he was selected for the Intercultural Study Exchange Programme at JNV Bishnupur, Manipur.
NCC and Student Life
During college, Parmod Kumar actively participated in the National Cadet Corps (NCC). He earned the NCC ‘C’ Certificate and was honoured as the Best NCC Cadet of Government Post Graduate College, Solan, in 2005.
From 2003 to 2006, he served as an active ABVP Karyakarta, participating in student and organisational activities.
Entry into Government Service
On 17 May 2006, Parmod Kumar joined the Department of Posts as a Postal Assistant. He was subsequently selected for the Army Postal Service and completed approximately nine months of training at the APS Centre, Nagpur.

From March 2007 to February 2009, he served in Leh and high-altitude areas, including responsibilities as a Field Postmaster. On 1 March 2008, he received the Best Worker Prize from the Officer Commanding of the 3 Infantry Division Postal Unit.
At the Integrated Headquarters of the Ministry of Defence (Army), he handled administrative, pay-related and senior-officer responsibilities, gaining valuable headquarters-level experience.
In 2012, he qualified the Limited Departmental Examination for Inspector Posts. On 16 September 2017, he was promoted to Naib Subedar / Junior Commissioned Officer. His duties included Field Postmaster, Second-in-Command, Quartermaster and Officiating Subedar Major responsibilities.
On 15 January 2014, Army Day, he received the prestigious Chief of Army Staff Commendation Card for devotion to duty and professional performance.
He completed his Army Postal Service career on 28 February 2022.
Civil Postal Administration
On 7 March 2022, Parmod Kumar joined as Inspector Posts, Shimla East Sub Division. He was also entrusted with additional responsibility as Assistant Superintendent, Shimla West Sub Division.
His responsibilities included postal administration, office infrastructure, postal-land matters, service improvement and coordination with local authorities. His work involved initiatives associated with Mashobra, Junga, Matiyana, the Sandhu–Narkanda Highway, and Post Offices at Sanjauli, Balag, Fagu and Khalini.
On 4 July 2023, he was posted as Inspector Posts (Complaint & Public Grievances), Solan Postal Division. From 18 August 2023, he was additionally entrusted with responsibility for Parwanoo Sub Division.
He currently serves as Assistant Superintendent of Post Offices, Nahan Sub Division.
